What do we do?

Open Door is a charity that helps talented young people who do not have the financial support or resources to gain a place at one of the UK’s leading drama schools. We work with people aged between 18-26 (Actors) 17-26 (Behind the Scenes), based in London, Essex, Sheffield, Rotherham & the East Midlands who are serious about pursuing a career in either Acting, Backstage or Production Arts. We work to break down any barriers they may face, allowing them to compete for a drama school training on a level playing field. We give talented and eligible young people the support they need so they can go into auditions and interviews feeling prepared, confident and without any worry of financial strain. And it’s all free.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for passionate acting teachers, directors and tutors who have experience in, and a passion for, working with young people to come on board as tutors for Open Door to work in The East Midlands, Rotherham and/or Sheffield. The job role will focus on providing one-to-one acting coaching and audition technique for our aspiring actors, as they prepare for their drama school auditions.


The specifics…

  • Each tutor will look after one or two students and provide up to 15 hours of tutoring per student between November 2019 and January 2020.

  • Rate of pay: £35 p/h inclusive of travel.

  • There will be a compulsory training day in London during October for which all tutors will be paid and have their travel reimbursed

  • Interviews will take place week commencing Monday 14th October.
